AN AMERICAN CHALLENGE

Vicky: “Do you remember the animated movie “An American Tail” by Don Bluth, the one in which the Jewish-Russian mouse Fievel emigrates to New York along with his family?”

Reader: “Yes, I remember it, but what does it have to do with Louis Delétraz?”

Vicky: “A new American challenge is coming for Louis! He will race in IMSA with the team Tower Motorsport, and at the end of this month he will have his first Daytona test!”

Reader: “Cool! Who will his teammates be?”

Vicky: “Ferdinand Habsburg, Rui Andrade and John Farano”

Reader: “Can you wish him all the best?”

Vicky: “Yes, for sure! Let’s all wish him the best!”

AMERICAN VIBES FOR LOU

At this point of the year in Europe you can see snow and feel freezing, but not in Florida: this is the period of the year where many Americans spend holidays in the Sunshine State. But Florida is also the home of the famous Daytona Speedway… so, what does it has to do with Lou? Yes, you understood well: Lou spent two days of testing in Daytona and, according to his latest Instagram post, he’s already in love with American racing! I hope this experience will give him opportunities for his bright future in this fantastic sport.

THE RACING EXPERIENCE

As we know, this is not a period in which racing drivers are very active on tracks. And Lou himself is taking a break, as his ELMS season is now done and dusted. But this doesn’t mean that he’s not thinking about racing; at least 10 days ago, he attended the new simulator center The Racing Experience in Lausanne, in his native Switzerland. He was very enthusiastic and satisfied about the experience and recommends it to everyone.

LET’S ELMS!

After four seasons (not the kind of pizza) Lou decided to leave Formula 2. This year he will face a new challenge named ELMS, he will race on a LMP2 car prepared by Team WRT and shared with Robert Kubica and Ye Yifei. 

This championship visits the Monza Circuit too, it would be awesome to see it live! Please, dear Covid, go away as soon as you can, so that my friends and me could see Lou racing!

HAPPY ANNIVERSAIRE! JOYEUX BIRTHDAY!

On this day, 23 years ago, a very special person saw the light for the first time on this Earth. Happy birthday, Louis! Have a great day with your family!

LOUIS… HAAS BEEN CHOSEN!

I know, it’s a bit of a crappy pun… but in this difficult period, I’m happy to see that Lou, our hero Lou, officially became test and reserve driver for Haas! He will be paired by Pietro Fittipaldi, his former teammate in the team Fortec in Formula V8 back in 2016 as well as a close friend of him! Bonne chance and boa sorte!

A TRUE KNIGHT NEVER GIVES UP

Despite the uncertain situation caused by the CoVid-19 world pandemy, which is 

affecting the sports’ world too, Louis announced that he *maybe* will contest the GT World Challenge round at Paul Ricard at the wheel of a Porsche GT3-R prepared by GPX Racing.

He’s excited about it! I will keep you updated about the development of the situation.

WHAT TIME IS IT? IT’S 24!

Jean-Denis Delétraz mightn’t have been the fastest F1 driver, but in Endurance racing he achieved many amazing results.

As I wrote in one of the first posts of this blog, when I wrote a “biography” of our hero, as a child Lou used to follow his dad on the racetracks all over the world, and that made him fall in love with motorsport. In particular when he was a child his dad used to compete in Endurance races, so this type of races became Lou’s favourite one.

This year his dream to attend the 24 Hours of Le Mans will become true, he will share a Rebellion prototype with Romain Dumas and Nathaniël Berthon.

AFTER ALL, YOU WILL ALWAYS COME BACK HOME

In a grey December afternoon I receive a news which lights my day like a ray of light. Our Lou will spend his fourth season in FIA F2 with a team for whom he’s not unknown: Charouz Racing System, with whom he raced back in 2018! He will be partnered by a driver with a famous surname, none other than Pedro Piquet, one of Nelson’s youngest sons and Nelsinho’s stepbrother!

Good luck to the boys for their 2020 season, hoping for Louis to get his first F2 win, a win he’s been chasing for years!

PEOPLE HELP THE PEOPLE

As I told you in the previous post, Louis took part in a cycling charity event named "Cycle With The Champions". Well, he cycled from Alba, in Piedmont, to Monaco, along with many other sportspeople, in order to help disabled children and their families to live a better life.

They raised… 1.100.000 €! I can't be happier, and above all prouder of Louis… he showed us for another time that he's a very generous person… he's the friend we all want to have!

P. S.: have you recognized the title I gave to this post? It's the title of a 2008 song by Cherry Ghost… do you remember it? When it was released I was attending the last year of elementary school… time flies!

LOUIS CYCLES WITH THE CHAMPIONS

Apart from being a talented racing driver, Louis is a very generous person. Along with his father, he's an ambassador of Porte Bonheur, a Swiss association which helps orphan children and teenagers to realize their dreams, and sometimes he attends charity kart races in order to pick up money for "L'Arche de Kira" an animal shelter for dogs and cats. In 2017 and 2019, he played in the Nazionale Piloti charity football match in Montecarlo.

This year, from October 18th to 20th, he will take part in a charity cycling competition named "Cycle With The Champions", and in these days he's raising funds for Caudwell Children, a British association which helps disabled children and their families both in daily life and in sport.

Good job, Louis! You never disappoint us, you are for sure one of the most generous racing drivers!

THE SWISS LION IS BACK ON TRACK!

Yesterday I told you about a surprise… here it is! 

As you know, Louis inherited his passion for motor racing from his dad, Jean-Denis Delétraz, who had a short F1 career and a successful one in GT and Endurance races. He attended the 24 Hours of Le Mans for several times and in 2008 he won the Spa 24 Hours too.

Nowadays, he sometimes races with old F1 cars. This time, in Silverstone, he raced with the yellow ATS D4, with whom his compatriot Marc Surer raced in the 80's. He ended 3rd, I hope he enjoyed his race!

YOU DON'T NEED TO HAVE A ROYAL BLOODLINE TO BE A PRINCE

This morning I woke up with a very sad news: the legendary Niki Lauda, aged 70, passed away due to kidney problems. I send my condoleances to the Lauda family.

This evening at the Louis II Stadium, in Monaco, like every year, the Nazionale Piloti charity match was held. There were many drivers who race in F1, F2, GTs… some names? The local hero, the Prince Charles Leclerc, the French Pokémon Pierre Gasly, Sir Lando, Quick Nyck, Carlitos El Matador, various Italian Goodfellas such as LuckyLuca Ghiotto and Ricky Agostini… and, above all… Louis Charles Hubert Delétraz, known also as LouLou, Lulino, Lulippo, Lupello, Lulello, Luppolo, or simply Lou. And the stadium has his same name, too!

The match was won by the Monaco Star Team, whose captain is Prince Albert II. However, the real Prince of the match was Charles, who was crowned as the best player!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LOUIS, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Today it's a special day for our Louis: it's his birthday, he turns 22! 

Louis, I hope you will have a good day with your family and friends. I will always support you both as a driver and as a person. You deserve all the best.

Keep on fighting, but only on the track. Be always loyal and kind, even with your enemies. I love you. We love you.

OH, SIM DRIVER, MY SIM DRIVER!

And finally, the official announce came out. However, it was in the air.

What am I talking about? 

Yes, Louis will be the simulator driver for Haas and he's so happy about it! As I told you in some previous articles, Haas is Romain Grosjean's team. RoGro is Lou's tutor and I'm sure he will give him some precious tips.

This year Haas has a new coloration, black and gold, which reminds the old Lotus and the 2011-2015 Lotus Renault! Surely our hero will look handsome with the team outfit.

BECAUSE INSTAGRAM STORIES ARE A GOLD MINE

Good morning petrolheads! The winter session of university exams is over, so now I have some time to write again about my little sweet Louis... 

Yesterday Louis posted an Instagram story from which I saw that he was going to London. Today I saw from another story that he made his seat for the 2019 FIA F2 season! As I told you, he will race with Carlin, one of the most famous and successful teams in junior formulæ. And as a Japan lover, I'm so happy to see that his teammate will be Nobuharu Matsushita, who comes back to Europe after a season in Super Formula!

LOUIS IS BLUE, DA BA DEE DA BA DA!

Welcome to the first post of 2019! Is there a better way to start a new year than an amazing news? 

Louis will compete in FIA F2 for the third consecutive year, and he will do it with Carlin, the team with whom he tested in Abu Dhabi a few days after the end of the season.

After many red cars and suits it's time for a bit of blue, as it's the social colour of Carlin. It will suit him, and according to my mother blue makes you appear slimmer.

All I have to do is to end this article with a phrase from one of the songs I love most... "I'm blue, da ba dee da ba da, da ba dee da ba da..." You know, I adore Gabry Ponte and the Eiffel 65... and I love to mix motorsport and music.

LOUIS & HAAS: IS THE MARRIAGE POSSIBLE?

Is Louis getting married soon? No, girls, don't worry...

According to what Louis declared to Autosport, the young Swiss driver is seriously considering Haas as the team be would choose for a future arrival in F1.

Our hero thinks that Haas, who is one of the best teams apart from the top ones, noticed his potential and likes him as a driver. Currently Louis has 42 points on his Super Licence.

We hope to see him in Formula One so he can show all his talent!
